Welcome to the web site for SMART Recovery for the Kendal, Barrow in Furness and South Lakes area.
- We are a peer led support group with the following aims and objectives:
- To provide practical guidance and support to those abstaining or wishing to abstain from any type of addictive behaviour whether related to alcohol or drug use or activities such as gambling, etc.
- To welcome anyone that wants help or guidance in respect of such addictive behaviours
- To be friendly, constructive and fair
- To be non prescriptive
- To respect anonymity if desired
- To encourage interaction and participation from all
- To allow all time to express their feelings and needs
- To encourage careful examination of ideas
- To encourage social interaction outside the meetings
We are Karen Long and Mark Livesey; we both have a passion for helping others with addictive behaviours and facilitate support groups in Kendal and Barrow in Furness.
We use the SMART (Self Management And Recovery Training) methodology.
We understand that there can often be a reluctance to attend group meetings whether due to poor experiences elsewhere or preconceived ideas; we are different and if you are interested in the SMART approach, please contact us for an informal chat.
